A Kentucky businessman donated money last year to the Calloway County Sheriff's office for the purpose of buying 3 AEDs (automated external defibrillators). Several months later, on January 18, 2022, the same man collapsed in his kitchen. His wife was there to call 911.
Calloway County 911 Dispatcher received the call from the man's wife and she was instructed to begin CPR. Shortly thereafter, a Kentucky State Trooper and a Calloway County Sheriff's Deputy arrived on the scene with an AED. Fortunately, the deputies all carry an AED in their patrol vehicles now. Since receiving the funds for the first three AEDs, the Sheriff's office has increased it's number of AEDs to 20.
This good deed certainly did not go without reward. The businessman's heart rhythms were returned to normal by the AED in the deputy's patrol vehicle and he recovered at home after a brief stay in the hospital.
